Even the sparrow finds a home, and a swallow the nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. ~ Psalm 84:5

ANN POWERS
Ann Powers is a native Austinite and mother of four who has been “nesting” since she was a little girl. Through drawings of room arrangements in grade school to near car accidents as a teenager looking at houses on the road, Ann has always dreamed of creating the warmth that makes a house a home.
Ann renovated her first two homes over a period of twenty years, doing most of the work alongside her family. She eventually converted those homes, as well as two other multi-family properties, into a total of 8 furnished units she rented through Airbnb and VRBO. But she had the most fun turning her own residence into a space others could enjoy—where people shot films and commercials, hosted live brand events, got married, or conducted corporate meetings and parties.
Later, through unexpected loss and major life change, Ann learned that letting go of even cherished things and finding new purpose or a fresh feel for your surroundings can be therapeutic. She has a special interest in helping women overcome unwanted change, in part through new vision for their spaces. And she loves spending time at plant nurseries to implement her landscape designs. More and more over the years, friends have asked her for help with design and nudged her to start a business.
It turns out the same thing was happening to her sister, Catherine, so they decided to finally take that step together, which is much more fun!
CATHERINE GUY
Since elementary school, Catherine Guy has loved the new-house feel that comes just from rearranging furniture. "Shopping her house" without spending a dime continues to be a relaxing, creative outlet she has enjoyed over the years at home with her family.
Catherine takes much inspiration from how beautiful imperfection is, both in nature and design. While symmetry does have its place, no one desires to live in a perfect little white box that shows no sign of life. Antiques and natural materials have a story to tell and are some of the favorite elements of her design. She finds joy in how vibrant and alive spaces feel when you can see the hand of the maker. She also strives to find that strategic balance of new and old for a lived-in, yet modern feel.
As her children gained more independence and began leaving home, Catherine decided to open a shared workspace on Main Street in downtown Bastrop. The business allowed her to design and create a comfortable place for members and visitors. This is where she began to embrace all the little imperfections that come with a 100-year-old building, and made her realize the blemishes are what make a place feel interesting, special, and in her opinion, more beautiful.
